On 29th November, the WARREDOC “The Digital Mapping as a way to develop and protect culture and environment” presented the outcomes of the 1° GIS Crowdmapping Competition and new activities in the regard of mapping cultural heritage, risk and social media experience. UNESCO HERITAGE SITE CROWDMAPPING COMPETITION 2016 Awardee Ceremony

The UNESCO HERITAGE SITE CROWDMAPPING COMPETITION awardee ceremony took place during the presentation of the United Nations World Water Development Report 2016 on “Water and Jobs” at the prestigious Sala di Notari in Perugia. Over 32 participants compete to map not only the beauty and cultural heritage of a recognize UNESCO heritage site but also the inherited risks caused by natural or human-related activity and the social media experience. The best three projects received a Special Professional Certificate together with a 1-year professional license of ESRI ArcGIS Software.

1st GIS Crowdmapping workshop

The 1st Crowdmapping Workshop and the Digital Mapping Course was a great success with 130 new strongly motivated Digital Mappers.

This event was the first step of an ambitious project, which aims to create a virtual volunteering community of GIS students, young professionals and faculties willing to share their passion and motivation with international colleagues for producing digital maps and story maps of UNESCO natural and cultural heritage sites.
