WARREDOC promotes and organizes on a yearly basis Winter e Summer Schools for PhD students and young researchers in the field of hydrology. Winter and Summer School were generally held at Villa Colombella, historical venue with 30+ years of experience in the organization of residential schools for advanced studies in the field of water resources, sustainable development and for earth and water science. Occasionally the School is organized in other venutes in Italy or worldwide in collaboration with WARREDOC partners.

 2023 INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL ON ECOHYDROLOGY FOR GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE

WHEN: July 3rd  – 7th 2023
WHERE: Palermo (Italy)

The WARREDOC Center and and University of Palermo,  with the support and patronage of  the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS), Gruppo Italiano di Idraulica (GII),  Società Idrologica Italiana (SII) and the PRIMA Program NEXUS-NESS project are jointly organizing the “2023 International Summer School on Ecohydrology for Global Environmental Change” at University of Palermo, Palermo (PA), Italy.

The 2023 Summer School will focus on advances in the study of global environmental change bringing together research developed in hydrology, ecology, biogeochemistry, and climatology. The aim is to bring Ph.D. students, post-docs, and young scientists from different disciplines together with leading scientists in the fields of ecohydrology, environmental science and Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem Nexus. The Summer School will include lectures on advanced topics and laboratory sessions to work on case studies, applications, or brief research projects under the lecturers’ supervision.

 2022 INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL ON EXTREMES IN WATER SCIENCE

WHEN: July 10th  – 14th 2022
WHERE: Palermo (Italy)

The WARREDOC Center and and University of Palermo,  with the support and patronage of  the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS), Gruppo Italiano di Idraulica (GII),  Società Idrologica Italiana (SII) and the Knowledge and Innovation Community  dell European Insitute of Innovation and Tecnology (EIT Climate KIC) are jointly organizing the “2022 International Summer School on Extremes in Water Science” at University of Palermo, Palermo (PA), Italy.

The Summer School will focus on advances in statistical theory and applications dealing with extremes in Earth System Sciences, and in Water Science in particular. The aim is to bring PhD students, post-docs, and young scientists from different disciplines together with leading scientists in the fields of statistics of extremes, hydrology, and Earth System Science in general. Towards this aim, the School will be composed of traditional lectures on advanced topics and of group research work lead by the lecturers on topics at the boundary of the state-of-the-art

 2019 INTERNATIONAL WINTER SCHOOL ON HYDROLOGY

WHEN: January 28- February 1st, 2019
WHERE: Colombella (Perugia, Italy)

The WARREDOC Center, together with the Interuniversity Consortium for Hydrology (CINID) and the World Water Assessment Program (WWAP), with the support and patronage of Umbria Digitale, the Italian Group of Hydraulics (GII) and the Italian Hydrological Society (SII), organized the “2019 International Winter School on Data Rich Hydrology” at the Villa La Colombella Study Center.

The Winter School involved 34 PhD students and post-docs from all over the world and was supported by the participation of distinguished international lecturers and researchers in the field of hydrology.
